Xtreme Aerial Concepts Trusts Red Hen to Drive

A mission can fall to pieces if the equipment fails mid-flight, especially when the pilot is, well, gone.

This means hours of footage and precious time are lost for good.

Thankfully, Xtreme Aerial Concepts doesn't have that problem. The California-based company provides image solutions using both manned and unmanned helicopters.

Xtreme's owner, Perry Kavros, was introduced to Red Hen after Skyline Media in Calgary, Canada brought up the need for GPS equipment.

Kavros purchased a VMS-200 from Red Hen and pre-programmed waypoints to fly an unmanned helicopter into urban environments.

The equipment allowed them to keep track of points that corresponded exactly with the video.

"The GPS tools are very useful, especially when grabbing many hours of data spread over hundred of miles," Kavros said.

The company recently built a turnkey system for an important right-of-way project that included Red Hen equipment and a custom two-axis camera mount

The project required an unmanned Vision Rotorcraft  helicopter to record footage for hundreds of miles of oil and utility pipelines.

"The result of the right of way work has been successful for the utility company," Kavros said. "Streamlining the workflow process  is something I would like to focus on in the future."
