Red Hen Systems VMS-HD takes to skies with Helicopter Services for the first time
|
When Helicopter Services, Inc. needed video for pipeline and Transmission line patrols, it chose Red Hen Systems to help with the job.
The Texas-based aerial charter, flight training and maintenance company never had video capabilities for its missions until now. They hope to let customers have access to GPS enabled Red Hen Media video for the first time.
"GPS is a big part of our product," said chief flight instructor Dan Katen."MediaMapper software allows us to give our customers the ability to go directly to the site where there may be an issue."

The company looked at two recording systems and chose Red Hen for its multi-camera capabilities and reasonable cost. "After looking at Red Hen versus the other system we decided that Red Hen was the way to go," Katen said.
They chose a three channel VMS-HD for the FLIR Polytech Corona 350 camera system with corona, HD color and IR cameras. While the system has not been put into use, Katen knows that the system works and will alert customers to issues and emergencies that occur during extended corridor patrols.

"With the systems we now have in place we expect to pick up quite a bit of new business," Katen said.
Katen said the next big step for pipeline patrols is to use ground-penetrating radar with the help of Red Hen's recording equipment. They also plan on expanding Corona camera technology to assist with powerline inspection.
Red Hen has also set up a MediaMapper Server so that Helicopter Services can demonstrate its services and products over the internet.
