Customer Spotlight: Space Airships of Brazil
First Unmanned Blimp Authorized to Patrol Pipeline ROW Construction Project for Oil & Gas Company
Starting next week, some residents in the state of San Palo, Brazil will see something out of the ordinary in the skies.
It will be Space Airships' A-20 UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) Blimp, the first UAV authorized to operate in Brazilīs airspace. The A-20 is a twin engine airship, just over 21 meters in length, with autopilot and datalink controls, carrying imagery packages (video cam CCTV /IR or still photo cam) with and a available payload of 80 Kg. Space Airships is the premier blimp operator in Brazil, specializing aerial advertising, broadcasting sporting events, security efforts and utility and pipeline monitoring. The team at Space Airships has been operating manned blimps in Brazil since the late 1990's, including the legendary Goodyear Blimp in South America.
The company recently was awarded a contract to use the A-20 for aerial monitoring of a pipeline construction project, which will link other pipelines in the country to the state of San Paulo. Space Airships will be creating video and still imagery geospatial work products for their client's Quality Control and Environmental departments.
