What's Fresh? The Farmers Are Coming!
We've been lucky this year to have several farmers that were able to start their season in April with greens, potatoes, leeks, radishes and mushrooms.
As the weather continues to cooperate, we are pleased to be welcoming back several more farmers in the coming weeks. With them, they bring strawberries, fava beans, rhubarb, asparagus and even some tomatoes! |

Compostables Towards Zero Waste
For the last few years, BFM has been trying to reduce the waste streams being generated by our vendors and customers. We are pleased that we have been able to reduce the amount of waste considerably.
BFM food vendors use all compostable and recyclable materials when possible. There are two main recycling areas in the Market with FoodPlus! and recycling toters.
All materials collected in the FoodPlus! Recycling program are composted locally and turned into a rich and beneficial soil amendment available for purchase at various stores in Whatcom County.
We also have some great volunteers that help educate our customers and overlook our recycling centers to make sure items are being appropriately disposed of. If you would like to help with this endeavor, we can always use volunteers on Saturdays to help with the recycling program. Please call 647-2060 if interested! |
Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are essential to every aspect of our mission - from our hard-working board to those who help with set-up and clean-up. Without volunteers we can't meet our goals of supporting locally grown and prepared foods by maintaining markets and by educating the public on the importance of buying locally.
If you are interested in lending your talents to our team in other ways, check out our new Volunteer Page on the website. |
New BFM Website
If you have not had a chance to visit our new website, please do! We are updating our vendor information pages weekly so there's always something new.
