MISSING - Abby Maryk
Greetings!

At Child Find Alberta we are having a wonderful summer full of events and educational workshops. Check out our website for our entire event listings.

As you enjoy the warm, lazy days of summer and time together as a family either at the beach, on holidays, or just in your backyard make sure you take the time to have open dialogue with your children about their safety.  Personal safety is a learned strategy rooted in education, repetition, continuity and positive reinforcement.

Our main goal at Child Find Alberta (CFA) is to keep 'Every Child Safe from Harm'. We provide valuable resources at no cost to the public on the prevention and location of missing children. CFA also provides educational seminars on how to prevent and recognize child exploitation and abductions. Along with the educational work, CFA provides the All About Me I.D. Program to the general public. We are here to assist you, call us at 1.800.561.1733.

We invite you to read about our work throughout the months of June and July; it has been very busy but a rewarding time at Child Find Alberta.

June and July ...  two exciting months!

Freeriders for CFA 2010, a SUCCESS!From hosting fingerprinting clinics to Downhill Mountain biking, June was definitely a busy but rewarding month for Child Find Alberta. We kick started June in a big way by attending the Birth Forest Event in South East, Calgary. At this event we fingerprinted 177 children in 4 hours! This was an extremely busy and hectic day, but with the tireless effort from our many volunteers it was a success. Near the end of June, we participated in several Calgary Housing Events. This was a great opportunity for Child Find to connect with our community. Throughout June we were able to reach out to a widely diverse group of individuals and provide families with valuable resources on child safety. We wrapped up June by heading out to Moose Mountain to host our 1st Annual Downhill Mountain Biking Event, Freeriders for Child Find Alberta.

So ... what happened on the mountain?

Child Find Alberta hosted its 1st Annual Extreme Downhill Mountain Bike Race, Freeriders for Child Find Alberta, on June 26th, 2010 at the exhilarating T-Dub trail on Moose Mountain, Alberta. This fast paced event was an amazing opportunity for the community to have some outdoor fun and raise funds for CFA. Organizers, volunteers, riders, sponsors and family members showed up to support Freeriders for CFA!

A special thanks to all the volunteers who came out bright and early to help with the event for the day, you were all so helpful!

This event was truly a success and we raised  $8,000 for Child Find Alberta, which will allow the organization to continue educating the public at no cost about the serious and heart breaking issues of child exploitation and abduction.

Child Find Alberta hopes to achieve even more success at next year's 2nd Annual Freeriders for Child Find Alberta, which is set for late June 2011. Thank you to all who participated in our 1st Annual Freeriders Event.

To finally end June.

On June 30th, 2010 Child Find Alberta was graciously the charity of choice for the CANASA Edmonton Sub-Chapter Annual Golf Tournament at The Ranch Golf and Country Club just outside of Edmonton. CANASA believes that both organizations share some core values, such as prevention and education. Shawn Lazaruk, President of CANASA Edmonton Sub-Chapter said "Brad Bostock and his group have found some excellent and creative measures to raise financial support and have always found his staff to be exceptional. We hope to continue our support for this charity into the coming year."

CFA would like to thank CANASA for all of their support and dedication in helping Keep Every Child Safe from Harm.

And no one could forget about July ...

July may have been our busiest month of the year! Two events in one day were not uncommon. Our efforts were mainly concentrated on the Boys and Girls Club of Calgary and the City of Calgary's Park and Play Program.

At both of these venues we had the pleasure of educating children of all ages. By incorporating real life "what if" scenarios and the importance of internet safety into our presentations, we hoped to have made a difference in the way children approach their own personal safety. We would like to give a big thank you to all the staff at the Boys and Girls Club of Calgary and the City of Calgary's Park and Play Program! You all have been very welcoming and supportive, thanks for all your support!

On July 31st, our last event of the month, we headed to the 'Sunfest'; this was a great event for Child Find Alberta to take part in. In past years Sunfest has attracted over 30,000 people! This was a great opportunity to reach out to the community and showcase what we offer.

We had a great time working at these events, and are looking forward to all the fun we have in store for August!
