Administrative Board Approves the 2010 BudgetMinistry Headline

Danny Johnston, Chairman of the Finance Committee, presented the proposed 2010 FUMC budget at the Administrative Board meeting on Sunday, March 7th. It was approved by acclamation.

During the discussion, Johnson pointed out that the Church ended the 2009 year with a deficit balance for the year.  Projected revenues for 2009 were $2,525,875.00, but actual revenues for 2009 were $2,155,310.00.  Expenditures for 2009 were $2,297,742.00 resulting in a deficit of $142,432.00.  In addition to the deficit, the Church was unable to pay a portion of the Church Apportionments and a pledge to the new Northwest Texas Conference Center.

The Finance Committee recommended a 2010 budget that includes pledges and revenue in the amount of $2,441,300.00 and projected expenses in the amount of $2,441,382.00.  The committee hopes that, over a three year period, the deficit of 2009 can be repaid to the Church.  In addition, every effort will be made to achieve 100% payment of the Church's apportionments as well as the pledge to the new Northwest Texas Conference Center.

The Finance Committee members appreciate the church staff and church lay leadership for their work and cooperation on this challenging budget. They believe this budget enables First Church to remain a very viable Church as we prayerfully work through the economic challenges. This is an exciting time for First Church, and the Finance Committee asks for your prayerful support.

The Music Department would like for you to take a few minutes to answer some brief questions.  Your responses will help us plan for next year. Click on the link below to take our survey.

Have you ever watched our church service on Television Sunday mornings?  Do you realize that it takes the efforts of 5 different people each week to prepare each broadcast.  Our church could not make this possible without the help of dedicated volunteers in our TV ministry.
We are in need of 3 new volunteers who can dedicate one Sunday a month as their mission to the church.  We provide all of the training and you do not have to have previous experience.  You can learn the basics in about 30 minutes.  Please help us in this outreach to our city.  Contact Tom Prather at 806-789-7575 or tprather@fumc.com if you can help.
