Adverse Weather Policy Because of the snow and ice Lubbock has experienced this year, First Church has set guidelines on when the church will be closed due to bad weather. On weekdays, our church will follow Lubbock Independent School District's lead. If LISD closes the schools, the church will be closed. If LISD is opening two hours later than usual, so will the church.
If adverse weather occurs on the weekend, any schedule changes will be posted on the front page of the website. The Communications team will also send out a church email to all members who have shared their email with the church.
Please remember that our receptionist are volunteers. They only answer the church phone during business hours on weekdays. They may not be able to get to the church to answer the phone under adverse weather conditions.

Attention all book lovers...
The Library Task Force (LTF) has completed its task of
re-configuring and restoring the FUMC Library to an inviting, useable space.
During this process, they also reviewed the entire collection of books and
retained those that are faith-based. All non-religious books are in storage on
the third floor of the church. Beginning the last week of February through
March 7th, the LTF is having an 'open house' for everyone who would like
to browse through these books. The storage area will be open during normal
church hours as well as Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to noon. If you are a book
lover, take advantage of this opportunity to add some classics to your library. (Read Marilyn Murfee's entire article about the LTF's renovation of the church library in the February 19th issue of the church paper.) |
