Dear Chamber Members,
This eBlast follows my return from the CORE Sustainability Summit in Denver. I was enlightened by the subject matter focusing on the environment and sustainable practices, but what I took to be most profound was the call to action to local and regional governments and communities to make a difference.
Now is the time- to make sustainable business choices without being required to do so by the government. These choices and trends are leading communities in economic development and creating competitive models for economic success.
The choice is ours- to support our community and make sound, sustainable choices for our economy, environment and society.
I was shocked to learn that there isn't a specific definition of sustainability; that many corporations are marketing the notion without considering its true range and meaning. Let's make our own definition of sustainability by being on the forefront of proactive thinking and, most importantly acting.
Below you'll find another way that you can Think Local First. We have partnered with the Crested Butte News for 25on25, a program to boost the local economy through specific, intentional spending.
Make your choices specific and intentional: Shop. Eat. Live. Think Local.
Best,
Kristen

Think Local First with 25on25
25on25: Help ignite local economy The idea is simple: let's help our local economy. On March 25, locals and tourists alike are being asked to spend $25 locally. It's the 25on25 event sponsored by the Crested Butte News and the Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce Think Local First campaign.
Spend your $25 locally instead of online or out of town. Money spent in town stays in town. A strong economy starts at home!
Promotional ads will be printed in the Crested Butte News on Thursday, March 25 advertising the special sales and promotions of area businesses. So get your paper that morning to see what the deals of the day are and help ignite the local economy!
The goal is to get people spending their money locally. This money can add up and make a difference. For more information on the Think Local First program, visit www.cbthinklocalfirst.com. To place a coupon ad, please call Faith or Kimberly at the Crested Butte News at 349-0500. |
