Nominations for Tourism Association Board due Feb. 15th
 
The Gunnison-Crested Butte Tourism Association is accepting nominations to fill six seats on the organization's eleven member board of directors, three from the north end of the valley and three from the south end. 

Nomination forms were emailed to all members of the Gunnison Country Chamber of Commerce and Crested Butte-Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 2 and are due on Feb. 15, 5PM.  The person being nominated and the person submitting the nomination both must be Chamber members in good standing. 

"The mission of the Tourism Association is to enhance economic vitality by marketing our county as a year-round destination and foster relationships with community partners to ensure a quality guest experience," says Executive Director Jane Chaney.  "People who are interested in tourism and the success of our local economy are great candidates for these positions."

Feb. 16 Mardi Gras Parade and Post Parade "Gumbo Cook-off"! Immediately following the parade there will be a "Gumbo Cook-off" competition upstairs in the Old Town Hall in the Mallardi Cabaret Theatre. Entrants must bring TWO GALLONS of their gumbo to the Theatre - bring crock-pots to keep it hot and a serving ladle. (Each entrant will get a coupon for a free drink). Participants will pay $5 at the door for a bowl and a spoon and they will taste and vote for the best gumbo.

Feb. 18 TheCrested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum is having an "Illumination Slide Show" on Thursday Feb 18 at 7 p.m. at the Museum. This is a collection of Black and White slides from the 1880's to 1920's.  This show is being given again by popular demand since we were maxed out last time and many people missed it.  Info cal 9-1880.  It is free but a $5 donation is suggested.
 
The Vagina Monologues-
February 19 & 20, 8 PM at the Center for the Arts.Join us for an evening you won't soon forget! Eve Ensler's award-winning play "The Vagina Monologues" comes to the Center's stage with 18 fabulous local ladies retelling these touching, funny, gracious, emotional anecdotes about the vagina. The performance is a fundraiser for Jubilee House and WSC's Sexual Assault Prevent Advocates in their work to support woman and girls who are victims of violence.
