APRIL & MAY MUSICALES! |
|
 |
Rooted in the European custom of Salon or Chamber concerts, the CVSM musicales feature gatherings of a small number of musicians performing together in private homes. They promote an intimacy for both performer and listener that is not available in a larger concert hall setting. Tickets can be purchased for $45 per person for individual musicales.
Beautiful Dreamer on Sunday, April 18 at 3:00 pm. Zachary and Marissa Burt have lovingly restored their19th century home at 327 East Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA. They have honored the heritage of the house but have incorporated a contemporary, vibrant sensibility. The home is filled with interesting artwork, much of it by Zach's mother, Roanoke artist Bonnie Burt. Time traveling singer, guitarist and storyteller, Roy Justice, will perform 19th century American songs focusing on Pennsylvania composer, Stephen Foster. Our host, Zachary Burt, will also perform at this musicale. Zach was a double major in college, majoring in both engineering and piano performance.
Jazz Brunch on Sunday, May 16, at 12:30 PM will be held at Andrew and Sally Sussman's beautiful classic rancher (formerly owned by Tom and Yvonne MacBride) at 100 Wynnecrest Drive, Waynesboro, PA. It offers a gorgeous outlook and is a perfect setting for a jazz brunch. Andrew, CVSM's executive director and a composer and jazz musician himself, has many friends and contacts who are internationally acclaimed jazz artists. Two favorites are Nancy Reed, vocals and David Leonhardt, piano. They have great facility as performers, work together very well as a duo, and really connect with their audience. Jazz greats they have performed and recorded with include David "Fathead" Newman, Phil Woods, Stan Getz, Bobby McFerrin, Benny Carter, and Herbie Mann, to name just a few. Here they will be performing jazz standards as well as several songs written by Andrew Sussman.

Make A Gift To Your Non-profit Community Music School Today!
A majority of CVSM tuition fees are used to pay our professional teaching staff and other program expenses. Some of our programs are offered solely for their educational and entertainment value and we must rely on the generous support of our donors to cover these costs. This year we must raise $254,217 over and above tuition income to meet our goal of responding to community needs and interest. CVSM is well positioned to continue to teach and entertain our community for years to come but your generous support is essential for us to do so. Your ongoing financial support helps to ensure that the Cumberland Valley School of Music continues to offer the gift of music to our community for many years to come.
