Stages of Love Musicale on September 27th |
The Cumberland Valley School of Music is again presenting a special series of four Musicales this year. Each CVSM Musicale features a beautiful setting, culinary delights, excellent company, and exceptional musical performances. Rooted in the European custom of Salon or Chamber concerts, musicales are gatherings of a small number of musicians performing together in private homes or smaller venues. They promote an intimacy for both performer and listener that is rarely available in a larger concert hall setting.
Tickets for the musicales can be purchased individually for $45 per person, or at a
discount for the entire series at $165 per person, and are available by calling CVSM

Stages of Love:
Sunday, September 27th at 3:00 PM Wood Center at the Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg CVSM Alumna Lindsay Shoap, soprano and Colin Mew, tenor, kick off our series with Stages of Love, the story of a relationship told through Broadway songs. They will be accompanied by Brian Helman, CVSM faculty member and pianist. While attending Chambersburg Area High School, Ms. Shoap performed in such roles as Anne in Anne of Green Gables, Rizzo in Grease, and Lily in The Secret Garden, as well as singing with the CVSM trio "The Song Birds." Since leaving Chambersburg, Lindsey has graduated from Vassar College, where she majored in Drama and performed in numerous productions, including the roles of Madeleine in Quills and Jack's Mother in Into the Woods. After college, she moved to New York City where she is currently living the glamorous life of a starving actress, spending her summers performing at the wonderful Sterling Renaissance Festival. Mr. Mew has been singing since he can remember and hopes to continue for the rest of his life. Colin's most recent work was with Liz Swados and the Bats in Kaspar Houser at the Flea Theater in Tribeca, New York. He is a graduate of Vassar College with a degree in Environmental Studies. Stages of Love will include performances from an array of Broadway musicals by both well-known and obscure composers, including Rogers & Hart, Rogers & Hammerstein, Kander and Ebb, Gershwin, Sondheim, and Kurt Weil, and from such shows as Babes in Arms, Company, Cinderella, Miss Saigon, The Fantastiks, Cabaret, The Secret Garden and Starting Here Starting Now. The Shoap Law Office and Richard & Patricia Shoap, parents of Musicale performer Lindsey Shoap, are hosting this CVSM Musicale. All proceeds help support the Cumberland Valley School of Music, a non-profit member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, teaching music and drama in Chambersburg, Waynesboro, and Mercersburg, PA and Hagerstown, MD.

In the Market for New Furniture? |
| |
 |

Do you happen to be in the market for new furniture or a mattress? Colony House Furniture in Chambersburg has given CVSM some very special game cards that we in turn are offering to our students, faculty & supporters. Here's how the game cards work: ► You take a card with you when you purchase furniture of at least $999 at Colony House Furniture. ► Before paying for your purchase, present the game card to the store manager, who will have you erase one of the circles on the game card - revealing winnings of either $50, $100, or $1000 off your furniture purchase - AND - CVSM will receive a check in the same amount as a donation! Every card is a winner of at least $50 or more! It's a win-win situation! So if you are interested in purchasing items at Colony House Furniture (4231 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg) give us a call at (717) 261-1220 and we'll get you one of the special game cards right away! And thanks to Colony House Furniture for providing us this innovative way of generating support for CVSM!
