Dear   ,
Head Shot
I attended the annual NAPO conference in San Diego this month, and wow, did I learn a lot!  Organizers from all over the world met to share their best organizing ideas, giving me lots of new ideas to share with you.

One idea would make a great Mother's (or Father's) Day present:  How about gathering your family photos and getting them organized for her?  Wouldn't she love to have someone else handle this chore so she could just enjoy the photos?  See below for some ideas on how to approach this project as a present or to capture your own memories.

My favorite product from the convention is shown below as well - a file holder that can help you get rid of the paper piles, clean up your desktop and keep your most important files in sight.

Hope you enjoy this issue, and are enjoying the blooming of spring!

My Favorite New Product:  The Stadium File Stadium file
Smead has a new 12-pocket desktop file holder that arranges your file folders in tiers so that you can see the back ones as easily as the front.  The accordion sides keep your desktop neat-looking, and the light weight and protected sides make it easy to move.  Includes labels for A-Z, monthly, daily (1-31), and blank.  Available at Amazon.com or Office Depot. In Navy blue only.

Photo Organizing
Do you or someone you know have boxes, bags and piles of old photos you keep meaning to organize but don't know where to start?  Experts at the NAPO convention recommended sorting by theme - vacations, holidays, etc., OR by family member.  You don't need to create albums, but organizing into acid-free boxes with sections for each event or family member can provide a great gift for any parent with tons of disorganized photos.  Be sure to label each box, and use dividers with labels as well.  Don't forget to throw away duplicates and bad shots - most of us have lots of out-of-focus and just plain not-attractive photos among the gems. Get rid of the duds to help them enjoy the gems even more!  If you get stuck in all the memories too much to be able to focus on the sorting, get help from someone (a friend, your favorite professional organizer, etc.) to help you make decisions as you go along, and to help make the labels.  Wrap the box in a bow, and enjoy the appreciation of your mom or dad as they get to enjoy their memories instead of being overwhelmed by them.
