Foliar Diseases on the Rise
By Scott Armstrong, Central Region Technical Sales Manager

With the onset of colder temperatures and cloudy days, the pressures from Botrytis, Powdery Mildew, and other foliar bacterial and fungal diseases are on the rise.

Be proactive and prepared and protect your investment.  Now is the time to call your distributor and stock up on CEASE and MilStop for the winter and early spring months.

Cease & MilStopWhy CEASE and MilStop?

CEASE is a biological fungicide (Bacillus subtilis QST 713) that will provide you with  preventative protection against foliar fungal diseases such as Powdery Mildew, Botrytis, and Cercospora. CEASE will also provide you with preventative protection against foliar bacterial diseases such as Erwinia, Xanthomonas, and Pseudomonas. Plus, unlike many of the other available products, CEASE is OMRI Listed and has only a 4-hour REI!

MilStop is biopesticide (potassium bicarbonate with a great surfactant) that is used as a curative for light to moderate infestations of Powdery Mildew, and as a preventative for many other types of foliar fungal diseases (Botrytis, Downy Mildew, Blackspot, etc). MilStop is also an OMRI Listed product with only a 1-hour REI.

The combination of these 2 products as a tank mix provides the grower with:

  •  Multiple modes of action as a preventative for many foliar bacterial and fungal diseases, plus a curative for light to moderate infestations of Powdery Mildew
  •  A 4-hour REI on the tank mix (No more having to plan your crews around 12-hour REIs)
  •  OMRI Listed products for organic production
  • No resistance build-up, so it is an excellent tank mix to be used as either a stand-alone or in your current rotation to stretch out the usage of your other inputs

CEASE + MilStop is the ideal tank mix for crops such as:Herbs

  • Poinsettias
  • Early spring propagation (The 4-hour REI is great for your labor planning in your propagation houses)
  • Vegetables and HerbsGeraniumRozanne
  • Cut flowers
  • Foliage
  • Seasonal inside color
  • Retail/ Growing operations that have customer exposure concerns

So be prepared this winter.  For more information about these products and using them in a tank mix, click here for our CEASE-MilStop Tank Mix Technical Bulletin.
