HINKLE WINS 2010 AMERICAN FLORAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP |
Victor, New York (August 19, 2010) - BioWorks® is pleased to announce that Amy Hinkle of Belle Center, Ohio has been selected as the winner of the American Floral Endowment: "BioWorks IPM/Sustainable Practices Scholarship". Students were evaluated on the basis of sound academic performance and a grade point average of 3.0 or better. Amy Hinkle, Recipient of the 2010 American Floral Endowment Scholarship | Agribusiness Management. Hinkle's special interests are in Floriculture, Greenhouse Management and Retail Horticulture. This summer Hinkle is working at Bear Creek Farms in Stillwater, Oklahoma where she cares for over 10 acres of cut flowers. In addition, she is working with an on site entomologist, taking an IPM approach in the greenhouse and field production of cut flowers. Hinkle anticipates graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture Science in the spring of 2012. After college she hopes to own her own retail business that focuses on providing high quality horticulture products to consumers. "This scholarship is greatly appreciated and will help fund my dreams to become the owner of a large specialty cut flower farm in the near future",says Hinkle. Hinkle is a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America 2004-present) and a past member of Adopt-A-School (2008-2009), Earth House (2008-2009), and Penn State NAMA: National Agri-marketing Association (2008). In addition, Hinkle received academic honors including: Dean's List (fall 2008, spring 2008, and fall 2009) and high school valedictorian (2008).
