Victor, New York (July 14, 2010 ) - BioWorks is pleased to announce that the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) has reviewed the company's EPA registered RootShield® Home & Garden Biological Fungicide, and approved the listing for use in organic production. 

RootShield® Home & Garden is a natural control for damping off and root rots for vegetables, houseplants, flowers, bedding plants, ornamentals and bulbs. RootShield provides a natural defensive barrier right from the start. The active ingredient is a patented hybrid fungus that protects roots from many disease-causing pathogens, thus helping to maintain a full, vigorous root system.

University-developed and tested for over 17 years, this beneficial fungus forms a natural bond, "shielding" the plant's roots, with one application protecting them for up to 3 months from invading, root-damaging soil diseases. Protecting plants with RootShield can enhance the root system through faster root development. Increased root mass enables greater nutrient and moisture uptake. RootShield's active ingredient makes nutrients more available to the plant, and it reduces or eliminates the need for chemical fungicides.

RootShield® Home and Garden is used by organic growers throughout the U.S. and can be used in rotation with insecticides, rooting compounds, fertilizers and most fungicides. It has an EPA rating of "exemption from tolerance."
