Fighting Fungal and Bacterial Leaf Spots
Are We Back to Normal Yet?
By Dr. Chris Hayes, Southeast Region Technical Sales Manager

It has been a long, cold, wet beginning to 2010. Are we back to normal yet?! Homeowners are anxious to get some color in the yard, Leaf Spotand growers want to take care of their needs. April showers will bring May flower sales. Yep, but too much rain can also bring leaf spots!

Continuous wet weather in many parts of the US has harmed the appearance of plants just ready to be sold. Let's get proactive - let's prevent what we know is going to happen...leaf spots!

CEASE® is a living biological that actively controls both bacterial and fungal leaf spots. It is tough on bad microbes but gentle on the plant. It is safe on flowers and can be used on plugs, containers -- both indoors and outdoors -- on color and food crops (see article "CEASE on Veggies"). CEASE is OMRI Listed, and for added convenience it can be tank mixed and has a low 4-hour REI.

Fungal leaf spots can also be controlled using MilStop®a nonliving biological that dries up fungal leaf spots caused by Botrytis, the mildew brothers - both powdery and downy, anthracnose and many others. MilStop can also be mixed with Cease (uses and directions can be found in the technical sheets below).Cease_MilStop

Efficacy Study Shows Positive Results for RootShield
By Marla Faver, Field Development Scientist

RootShield® WP showed excellent results in a recent study evaluating the efficacy of biofungicides against Pythium root rot infesting Hibiscus. The 2010 study conducted in the greenhouse by AgroSci R&D in Modesto, CA shows that RootShield WP provided disease control significantly better than Actinovate®. Click here to see charts.
