Give Your Spring Plugs a Good Foundation
By Scott Armstrong, SW Regional Technical Sales Manager

PlugsAs you prepare for the upcoming spring season, ensure now that you start off your young plants with a strong foundation. A healthy plug will give you a plant that finishes faster and at a higher spec. Less shrink, less troubles, and more dollars for you!

As the old saying goes "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Use RootShieldŽ as a preventative on your bedding and/or vegetable plugs to ensure strong and vigorous plants.

By applying either RootShield Granules or RootShield WP to your bedding and/or vegetable plugs now, you provide that young plant 10 to 12 weeks of protection against most of the major root diseases (Fusarium, Pythium, Rhizoctonia, Thielaviopsis, and Cyclindrocladium). Most other fungicides on the market need to be reapplied every 3-4 weeks. The use of RootShield will help you to save money with less shrink, and reduced labor and chemical input cost.

How much do have invested in that plug tray before it hits the greenhouse floor?
For less than 1% of the total cost (the initial application is only pennies per plug tray), you are providing that young plant with a disease free environment in which to flourish and grow healthy. You have the option of applying RootShield either as a granular (Preincorporated into the soil) or as a drench (RootShield WP).

So take one of the necessary steps now to help ensure that you will have a successful crop for spring!
