With the New Year comes new resolutions. Resolutions to do things differently, to be more successful, to be healthier and all the other things that come with making our lives better than the year before.
If the resolutions we make are so important to our well being then why do we make these resolutions only once a year versus 365 days a year?
As the New Year quickly approaches there is a feeling of excitement and renewed energy as we anticipate what the New Year will bring, leaving behind previous failures and disappointments of the years past. It is almost as if at twelve midnight on January 1st, somehow our lives will magically be transformed and we will have an opportunity to start all over again. We have a sense of urgency to "make a change" and start the New Year off right, however that sense of urgency starts to fade and often gets replaced with a sense of complacency as we continue to do what we have always done but expect different results. Isn't that the definition of insanity?
We go into business for ourselves to create a lifestyle for ourselves and our family right? So let's make a new resolution this year! I don't know about you, but I resolve to "play full out" in my business and my life, not just on January 1st, but for the next 364 days following and beyond. By "playing full out" means that I am going to live my life, run my business, as if my life depended on it, because it does!
Here are some things you can do to "play full out" in your business and your life to gain momentum and get your business going and growing in 2012 so you can achieve the success you desire.
Create a good foundation: With anything a sturdy foundation is critical to the stability of what is being placed upon it. That foundation is you both physically and mentally. Not only do you need be healthy physically, you should be healthy mentally. With every negative thought you have, you are putting a crack in your foundation. Belief in yourself and knowing anything is possible is key. Find ways to remain positive, revisit your vision often and play by a different set of rules. Don't be so hard on yourself because mistakes, disappointments and failures may happen but it's all about how you react to them that will turn them from being a disruption to being a blessing.
Have a plan: Start writing down your goals for 2012, not just how much money you want to make, but goals that move you closer to the lifestyle you desire. Write out your lifetime goals, your vision for your business goals, the financial goals it's going to take, and the various waypoints you need to hit in order to achieve your goals. Start thinking long term versus short term and revisit your Strategic M.A.P. often.
Take Action: Remember the definition of insanity? You can't expect change to happen unless you do something about it. Like I always say, "Knowledge is not power, applied knowledge is what makes the difference." Take time every month at a minimum to work "ON" your business, meaning those things that will move your business forward. Develop your knowledge as a business owner, read more, seek out support, learn from others. Stop "THINKING" about all the things you are going to do and just start "DOING."
