Abstract:  This PID has improved  sensitivity compared  to an FID. It is 200  times more sensitive for aromatics, 80 times more sensitive  for olefins, and 30 times more sensitive for alkanes > C6. Mechanical, chromatographic, electronic & software-results: improved detection limits for aromatic compounds from 2 ppb to < 0.5 ppb. The dynamic range was increased from 1 x 107 to 5 x 107, the widest range of any GC detector available.
