Greetings!

In this January News Edition we've included a glimpse of our participation in the Technical Session at PITTCON 2009, the featured Product of the Month: A Truly Portable GC, customer service and support contact information and how to set up appointments with us at PITTCON 2009 in Chicago, IL.

PID Analyzers is the leading manufacturer of photoionization based analytical instrumentation used in portable, process and laboratory detection worldwide.

We design and manufacture GC detectors that can be added on to existing HP5890, 6890..Varian. and other Laboratory GC's. Our detector electronics can be interfaced to many GCs and we have PC based data systems for our detectors.

Our Laboratory Gas Chromatograph (Model 322) and Portable GC (Model 312) can have any of the following two detectors installed: PID, FID, FPD, TCD, COD, FUV for ppb to % levels of VOCs, sulfur compounds, fixed gases....
With our unique technology at PID Analyzers, it is easy to build or upgrade your new Analyzer. If you don't see the Analyzer you want, ask us. Our advanced electronic technology allows us to interface virtually any type of sensor to our electronics.

A New Instrument for Automatic Monitoring of Nitrogen Compounds in Surface Water and Waste Water in the Laboratory

Ion selective electrode (ISE) methods for environmental analyses of ammonia in discharges have been approved by EPA for > 30 years. Recently, the EPA approved methods for nitrate and nitrite electrodes for the measurement of NO3 and NO2 - in water. We described manual ISE methods for analyzing nitrogen
compounds in wastewater and surface water recently (1). We have designed a new instrument that will automatically analyze these compounds in the Lab.
The sample box contains a two channel peristaltic pump, several solenoid valves, a power supply, an amplifier and an ADC board with 8 digital input/output ports. The system is controlled through a USB port by a PC. The operating system is Windows XP with LabWorks software for the system control. The system is automatically purged between each analysis. The total analysis time for an ammonia sample is < 90 seconds and the run can be performed by a
technician. The trace and concentration is stored on the hard drive of the PC. A manual sample analysis can take 3-4 minutes to complete. The system can be
setup to run duplicate or triplicate samples and provide statistical analysis. An alarm level can set if samples exceed known alarm levels for each pollutant.
The system is relatively compact ( 6" x 8" x 6") and can be brought into the field with a Laptop PC or run in the lab while taking up little bench space. The precision
and accuracy will be compared for both manual and automated methods.
If you are interested in attending this session at PITTCON please email me [email protected] so I can send you the location, date and time.
Featured Product of the Month:
The Truly Portable GC

HNU GC311 users will be delighted with this lightweight GC instead of it's "transportable" predecessor!

This new Portable Gas chromatograph is sleekly designed without compromising it's laboratory results. The HNU Model 312 features low ppb to % capability and Pentium PC with 32 bit  processing all achieved in a compact robust package.  The PeakWorks chromatography integration software is easy to use in combination with a choice of  up to six GC detectors including the most popular PID or FID and the unique Far UV (the TCD alternative). You can really take this one To Go.
