China 2.0 Era Challenges

Today, the challenges and opportunities are greater than ever for Chinese startups and emerging companies. The landscape has changed dramatically since just a few years ago when dealmaking and Chinese IPOs were at their peak.

Consider these evolving trends in China venture, technology innovation and entrepreneurship, which offer a mixed picture of where the action leads next.

Read Silicon Asia post at Forbes.

We'll be talking these trends with our speakers Alex Hartigan, Hans Tung, Richard Liu, Jenny Lee, Richard Chen, Fritz Demopoulos,

Frank Giglio, David Chen, Arman Zand and Joseph Chan + more.

Silicon Valley's Sierra Backyard

downhill mountain biking
Trying out some downhill mountain biking, knee pads & full helmet on. Bye!

California Bay Area residents have all sorts of places nearby as summer weekend getaways. There's Big Sur, Yosemite, Redwood Forests, Half Moon Bay, Pebble Beach and Napa Valley. Nearby Lake Tahoe has normally been reserved for wintertime weekends, when the Sierra Nevadas beckon skiers and snowboarders.

With the economy still sluggish, however, Lake Tahoe has also become a favored destination for that typical all-American family vacation, without the added expense and aggravation of flights during peak season. Just about a four-drive from the Bay Area, it's still far enough away that you can feel you've really been somewhere different, away from the fog in high elevation with strong sunshine and hot, mid-day temperatures.

What's there to do in summer? Plenty for the athletic.

FYI

Swedish consultancy Kairos Future and its China lab have mined a Chinese database of invention patents for insights on the evolution of China's R&D landscape. The result is a map of innovation in China, a report on China's "three waves of innovation", and a few short videos. The results can be found at www.chinamapofinnovation.com.
