2011-12 administrative organization chart

At Tuesday's Board of Education meeting, directors voted to accept the 2011-12 administrative organization chart, which reflects a reorganization of some leadership positions, departments and programs to better support the Strong Schools, Strong Communities strategic plan.

 

Also announced were the appointments of Dr. Michael Kremer to the position of Chief of Schools and Julie Schultz-Brown to the position of Director of Communications, Marketing and Development. Those appointments become effective July 1, 2011.

Strong Schools, Strong Communities update: Districtwide Action Teams

Directors received an update on the Strong Schools, Strong Communities and the role of Districtwide Action Teams. The teams will make recommendations to the superintendent to guide equitable and effective implementation of the strategic plan. Each of the nine teams will have a specific topic area on which to focus, including: 

  • Achievement Gap
  • Transition to Middle Grades
  • Managed Instruction
  • Specialized Academic Programming
  • Integration / Choice
  • Partnerships
  • Shared Accountability 

It also was announced that the deadline to apply to take part in one of the action teams has been extended to Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 4 p.m. Members will be announced on Monday, June 6, 2011 with meetings starting on Monday June 13, 2011.

Fiscal year 2012 budget 

Directors received a formal presentation of the Fiscal Year 2012 budget proposal. The presentation was similar to that of the May 10, 2011 Committee of the Board. Overarching the many key factors of the proposal is that it begins and ends with students, focusing the goals of Strong Schools, Strong Communities.

 

The Board must adopt a balanced budget by June 30, 2011. Click here  to view Tuesday's budget presentation.
