School year update
Public invited to listening session Thursday Nov. 11, 2010
At the Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010 regular Board of Education meeting, members were updated on information regarding the first quarter of the school year including:
  • Enrollment higher than projected: As of October 1 the un-audited student enrollment count is 38,984, which is about 370 more students than had been projected.
  • Extended Day Learning attendance up:Extended Day for Learning for this school year began last week. The first week attendance is up 28 percent from last year for elementary and 29 percent up from last year for middle school. More than 1,100 students in grades 5-6 are taking instrumental music with a fully-staffed program.
  • District launches Office of College and Career Readiness: To prepare all Saint Paul Public School students for a transition to post secondary education options or career opportunities, the District announced plans for an Office of College and Career Readiness.
Public invited to Board of Education listening session
The Board of Education will hold its first listening session of this school year on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 in the atrium of  the upper campus of Linwood Monroe Arts Plus (810 Palace Avenue, St. Paul) from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the informal discussions and to share ideas directly with the Board directors. There are no pre-determined topics.

Regular Board of Education meetings air live from the District's Administration Building the third Tuesday of each month at 5:45 p.m. The meetings are replayed on the following Saturday at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. In addition, archived versions of Board meetings are available here.
