Strawberries

In the Texas Hill Country in New Braunfels, there is a U Pick farm, the Markley Family Farms,  that grows its strawberries and other fruits and vegetables hydroponically --that is without soil. It is a unique vertical stacking system allowing you to pick without bending and kneeling.

The main crop is strawberries, but they also have other seasonal vegetables available year round, such as lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, green beans, cucumbers, eggplant, greens, broccoli, and spinach.

What a treat to have fresh produce.  They are located
at 394 Union Wine Road.  Call ahead to find out what is in season, 830-629-4877 or click here to find them on the web,

Canyon Lake Activities
Spotlight: Lake Canyon Yacht Club

Chartered in 1967 with the primary purpose of promoting the art of sailing, the Lake Canyon Yacht Club is in full swing this summer hosting a number of fun and adventuresome activities. It is located on the north shore of Canyon Lake, Texas about 45 miles north of San Antonio and 50 miles south of Austin. The club facilities occupy 18 acres of land on a bluff overlooking the deep 8000 acre lake.

The club's amenities include a 144 slip waterfront with ample docking space for dry sailed boats and visitors participating in regattas, a two lane launching ramp, dry storage for over 150 boats, a clubhouse with a party deck, swimming pool, and a boat rigging tower for stepping and unstepping masts.

Want to learn how to sail?  It's never too early or too late.  Lake Canyon Yacht Club offers classes for all levels from beginning  beginners to seasoned sailors.  Click here for registration information for adult classes.

Ensenada Shores"Ensenada Shores is Beautiful"
                                                 Melissa Onks

"Ensenada Shores is beautiful.  We will be retiring in a few years, so we started looking for a place to live away from the hustle & bustle of city working life.  It's as close to heaven as you can get in Texas. The sales staff at Ensenada Shores were very helpful in showing us everything they had, and we knew we found our home, when they showed us the last lot.

They have some folks who doubled their help in working with one of the local builders, which makes it especially easy. We're now planning our home there and are so anxious to finish up our work and move to the country. The deer are everywhere, we've seen a fox and a roadrunner on our property. The flowers are beautiful in the spring. We're looking forward to these new neighbors. It's going to be so nice to get up in the mornings, get a cup of coffee and sit on the back porch and watch the wildlife. Ahhhh - there is life after work and I think it's a little closer to God."

Whitewater Amphitheater, nestled along the banks of the Guadalupe River canopied by Cypress and Heritage Trees, is beautifully spot and quickly becoming one of the most outstanding outdoor music facilities in Central Texas.  With two stages to host an array of different artists, there is never a lull in the musical lineup.
