Pick Your Own Strawberries Photo Courtesy of PickYourOwn.org |
In the Texas Hill Country in New Braunfels, there is a U Pick farm, the Markley Family Farms, that grows its strawberries and other fruits and vegetables hydroponically --that is without soil. It is a
unique vertical stacking system allowing you to pick without bending and
kneeling.
The main crop is strawberries, but they also have other seasonal vegetables
available year round, such as lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers,
zucchini, yellow squash, green beans, cucumbers, eggplant, greens, broccoli,
and spinach.
What a treat to have fresh produce. They are located at 394 Union Wine Road. Call ahead to find out what is in season, 830-629-4877 or click here to find them on the web, |

"Ensenada Shores is Beautiful" Melissa Onks
"Ensenada Shores is beautiful. We will be retiring in a few years, so
we started looking for a place to live away from the hustle & bustle of
city working life. It's as close to heaven as you can get in Texas. The sales staff at
Ensenada Shores were very helpful in showing us everything they had,
and we knew we found our home, when they showed us the last lot.
They have
some folks who doubled their help in working with one of the local
builders, which makes it especially easy. We're now planning our home
there and are so anxious to finish up our work and move to the country.
The deer are everywhere, we've seen a fox and a roadrunner on our
property. The flowers are beautiful in the spring. We're looking
forward to these new neighbors. It's going to be so nice to get up in
the mornings, get a cup of coffee and sit on the back porch and watch
the wildlife. Ahhhh - there is life after work and I think it's a little
closer to God." |

Lake Reservoir. In a matter of six
weeks, the flood waters carved through the Glen Rose limestone that had taken
over a hundred million years to create to form Canyon Lake Gorge. This beautiful and unique geological
formation is open to the public through guided tours only. Click here to make your reservation to see:
