| Mother's Day Comes Early at Debutante Tea | |
Tears of joy and laughter were prolific as the 2010-2011 class of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Guild's Silver Rose Debutantes honored their mothers during an annual tea on Sunday, Feb. 13.
Held at the Westridge home of Guild member Shelley Hann, guests, comprised of Guild members, Debutantes and their mothers, enjoyed a traditional light tea buffet and summer-like weather.
Debutante Heather Lincoln, who lives in Valencia and attends Hart High School, was the first to honor her mother in a unique way.
"I need to sing a song, because no words can describe how much I love you," said Lincoln, who's starred in show choir musicals throughout her school career, to her mother, Terri.
The mother-daughter tea is one of the many social events held during the Silver Rose Debutante season, which begins in September and ends in March with a Grand Ball. To read more, click here. |

| Henry Mayo Celebrates Doctors Day | |
Doctors preserve health and life every day, tirelessly contribute towards advancing medical knowledge, and dedicate hours to promoting good health. At the bedside, in surgery, treating emergency or urgent care patients, delivering babies, reading x-rays or lab tests, they deliver compassionate care to our community.
In honor of National Doctors Day on March 30, the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation invites the community to express special appreciation to their physician(s) by making a contribution to benefit patient care services at Henry Mayo Hospital. Each physician honored will receive a letter from the Foundation acknowledging that a donation was received in his or her honor and a Healthcare Hero pin. Donations are confidential and no reference is made to the amount of the donor's gift. A special recognition poster acknowledging the physicians who have been honored will be on display at the Doctors Day celebration. Contributions are encouraged prior to March 18 to be included on the display.
If you would like to recognize your physician with a special online contribution, visit or call the Foundation office at (661) 200-1201 or click here.

| Don't Miss the Drive Safe Golf Tournament! | |
Its back and better than ever! The Frontier Toyota/Henry Mayo Drive Safe Golf Classic, an exciting day of golf at Valencia Country Club on May 21, continues to raise vital funds for our hospital's emergency and trauma services.
This popular annual event sells out early every year. Tickets and sponsorships are still available, but interested parties need to act quickly. To find out more, contact Courtney Dinius at (661) 200-1200 or click here.
Volunteers are needed for the tournament, as well. There are many fun ways to contribute your time, from manning refreshment stands to riding around with the golfers as a score keeper. To volunteer, contact Laura Chesler by clicking here or calling (661) 200-1200. |
| Auxiliary Board Installed for 2011 | A gavel was passed to familiar hands as Estelle Hoffman was sworn in for a second term as president of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in January.
"We thank you for your first year of service and the wonderful accomplishments, and we know you're going to make the Auxiliary an even more distinguished organization this year," said Diana Vose, president of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation.
Hoffman was excited about leading the Auxiliary once more in 2011. "I believe in having a smile on your face, a hand out to help, and an ear to listen," she said. "I'm looking forward to all our plans and projects we'll be working on together in the upcoming year to help Henry Mayo achieve its goals and continue meeting our community's healthcare needs."
In addition to Hoffman, Vose also installed the remaining 2011 board members, including first vice president Denise Baldwin, second vice president Thomas Llewellyn, recording secretary Julie Cobb, corresponding secretary Gayle Jenest and treasurer Warren Bell. The all-volunteer organization, now in its 49th year, raises funds for the Henry Mayo Health Foundation through the gift shop and outside vendor sales. In 2010, the Auxiliary presented the Foundation with a check for more than $60,000 during the hospital's annual volunteer recognition luncheon. To read more, click here. |
