Job and College Fair
MCAS Yuma is hosting a Job and College Fair on October 25th from 0900-1400 at the Sonoran Pueblo. Over 20 employers and 20 schools are estimated to be in attendance. If you are searching for a job, you should dress for success and bring your resume. If you are an active duty member who is interested in attending college, you should bring a copy of your SMART that can be obtained at the Education Center or online at https://smart.navy.mil. If you have attended college before, you should bring a copy of your college transcripts.

The MCAS Station library has some amazing research and learning tools available for you at your fingertips. Each month the library will be highlighting one of the online resources available to you. This month will feature Encyclopedia Britannica Online. One of the best parts is that it's free to use!
Encyclopedia Britannica offers a variety of research tools including, but not limited to, country comparisons, a world atlas, featured articles, a Spanish-Enlgish dictionary, the encyclopedia, and Britannica for kids. You can use the Britannica Online Academic Edition by going to the following website: http://search.eb.com and you can access the Britannica Online Public Library Edition by going to the following website: http://library.eb.com. The Britannica for Kids can be accessed by using a link through http://library.eb.com.

New Language Program 
In addition to the wonderful reference materials that are available to you on the computer, the library also offers an online program that will aide you in learning another language. Many of you may be familiar with or have used Rosetta Stone in the past. This program ended on September 28 or dependents and is being replaced with a new language program. The new language program is called Mango, and it will be open to all active duty personnel, thier dependents, and all DoD Employees. Call the Library at 928-269-2785 or come in to sign up! (Note: Active duty personnel can still be enrolled in Rosetta Stone through MarineNet.)

MCAS Yuma Station Library Children's Programs | |
Story Time: Ages 3-5 Years
This program is an hour long and parents are allowed to leave during this time. The hour consists of stories, songs, and a craft revolving around the week's theme.
Lap Time: Ages Birth-3 Years
This program is 40 minutes long and a parent is required to attend with their child. Lap time consists of stories, songs, and an interactive craft that follows the theme.
Weekly Schedule
Tuesday: Lap Time - 9:00am-9:40am and 10:00am-10:40am
Wednesday: Ms. Sarah's Story Time - 10:00am-11:00am
Thursday: Lap Time - 9:00am-9:40am and 10:00am-10:40am
Friday: Ms. Sarah's Story Time - 10:00am-11:00am
*Registration is required for all children's story programs. Currently, spots are available for Wednesday's Story Time. If you are interested in other programs, please call (928) 269-2785 to be put on the waiting list. |
