Dear Families,
Each year, Marine Corps spouses search for the perfect gown, shoes, jewelry, hair style, and accessories for the Marine Corps Ball. In fact, even though the Marine Corps birthday is still over a month away, many spouses have already started thinking about the color dress they will wear or what they'll do with the kids for the parent's night out. With ball season fast approaching, Marine Corps Family Team Building is gearing up for the 3rd Annual Operation Ball Gown. At this free event, military spouses enjoy a fashion show, a beauty expo, and a gown giveaway where each participant selects a FREE new or gently used ball gown. The fashion show highlights men's and women's formal attire suitable for the Marine Corps Birthday Ball. The show's models are all military spouses, selected to represent every unit aboard the installation. Attire for the event is casual and children are not permitted at this adult event. Childcare will be provided by Marine Corps Family Team Building; however, advance registration is required for childcare only by calling 269-6550 by September 23rd. No registration is required for the event itself. For more details, read the Operation Ball Gown article below. We look forward to seeing you at the Operation Ball Gown and hope you find the perfect gown for this year's ball. In the meantime, be sure to check out the additional classes and workshops Marine Corps Family Team Building is offering throughout the month including a conversational Spanish series and Who Moved My Cheese?, a workshop on overcoming change. Marine Corps Family Team Building is privileged to support you in your military lifestyle. Whether this month finds you in the daily grind of driving a carpool and making school lunches, or in the glamour selecting a gown for the ball, we are here to help you BLOOM as much in the day-to-day as in the special occasions like the Marine Corps Ball.
Your MCFTB Team,

What does cheese have to do with anything?
Who Moved My Cheese? is a workshop based on the #1 International Best Seller that provides a simple parable about how we react, respond, and adapt to change. Who Moved My Cheese? focuses on four "mouse" characters that live in a "Maze" and look for "Cheese" to nourish them and make them happy. Each "mouse" in the "Maze" has a different approach to coping with change, so workshop participants can identify with each of the characters. The "Cheese" is a metaphor for what you want to have in life and the "Maze" is where you look for what you want. The training will focus on group activities and discussions, analyzing the "Cheese" and the "Maze" in our personal lives. The purpose of this training is to help military families gain change skills to help them overcome the unique challenges of the military lifestyle. Who Move My Cheese? is offered September 16 from 6-8pm in Building 598. Registration is required by calling 269-6547. |
