Student Responsibilities when Utilizing the Education Center Greetings!
With fall registration quickly approaching, the Education Center would like to take the time to review the following tuition assistance policies and procedures that are required to use TA:
- In order to use Tuition Assistance (TA) you need to attend a College 101 orientation. The Education Center offers them every Tuesday at 1000 and Thursday at 1400. If you have taken a College 101 orientation at another base, you are not required to take it again.
- If you have a GT score of 99 or below then you need to take the TABE test. The TABE test is offered every other Friday at 0800. Please contact the Education Center for specific dates and a test request form.
- TA applications must be turned in prior to the beginning of the class. MCO 1560.25C states that TA applications may not be processed "after-the-fact."
- Register for classes early; so that your command has time to approve your TA application.
- Fill out your TA form completely and make sure you have the correct information and signatures. The Education Center is not responsible for searching out the cost of your tuition.
- Once your TA application has been processed, notify the Education Center of any changes that need to be made, such as dropping or adding a class.
- Turn in a copy of your grade report at the end of each class.
- Turn in a copy of your degree plan. This is a HQMC requirement, and must be met once a student reaches 12 credit hours.
- Once your TA application is processed, it is the students to make sure the school receives a copy. The Education Center will gladly fax your TA form to your school of choice, but it is ultimately your responsibility to make sure the school has received the TA voucher.
- If you owe money for a previous class, the Education Center can not process a new TA application until the account is cleared.
- If you decide to drop a class, it is your responsibility to make sure there is no money owed to the school. Insist that the school provide you with a copy of the withdraw documentation with the amount owed. Provide this information to the Education Center, so that we can guide you in taking care of the payment. We are here to help you!
- If you fail a class, you will be required to reimburse TA. This is not an Education Center policy, this is a TA policy. Each student signs a TA document notifying them of this policy. If you need to be reminded of the policy, you can find it on the back of your TA application. Again, notify the Education Center of your failed class so that we can guide you in the steps needed to payback TA.
