Concord's 375th Birthday Bash- September 11 & 12.
Concord was the first English settlement above tide-water in North America. Incorporated on September 11, 1635, we will celebrate the 375 th Birthday with a bash. There will be a parade with over 90 units, brass cannon and 50 horses. Fireworks will light the sky, music will fill the air, stories will be told and there will be dancing and merriment at the Birthday Ball. Join us for this spectacular happening. Schedule of Events. |

Reenactment
Picture this: ....The night before an elite German force over took a small grass airstrip just a few hundred feet away. The Allied Forces had to gain control of this airfield so they could fly in much-needed supplies. - It was going to be a tough fight. You will be able to see original equipment from WWII in action. Everything from the cooking utensils to M1 rifles is original. The only event of this type - in the world. - Don't miss it! Snapping Turtle
We saw this Grand-Daddy snapping turtle in the Concord River near the Old North Bridge Snapping turtles are the largest of the freshwater turtles inhabiting the United States. Snapping turtles are bold and aggressive hunters. Their massive, sharp-edged jaws are good for grasping many different aquatic and semi-aquatic creatures. They defend themselves in a manner similar to snakes by "striking" at enemies. The speed at which they strike rivals that of the rattlesnake. So quick is the movement that the eye is barely able to follow it. Backed up by a pair of sharp-edged, cutting mandibles and jaw muscles of tremendous power a snapping turtle bite may cause serious injury.
