Hawthorne Inn winter         Innkeeper's Quilts Featured in Japanese Magazine

The Japanese magazine "MY HOME" featured many of Marilyn's hand-made quilts in the December/ Christmas Issue. They remarked on her use of vibrant color and intrcate pattern. The writer, editor and photographer were also interested in heirloom quilts from Gregory's family. It is delightful to see the interest the Japanese have for traditional American handy-crafts and lifestyle.
We have enjoyed many Japanese guests who are well-read in the Concord authors and take pilgrimages to the homes of Emerson, Alcott ("Little Women") and Walden Pond. Some years ago we were honored  with an invitation to greet the Japanese Crown Prince and  Princess, who made an un-announced stop at Concord's Orchard House.

Bennet St School                          Current Show at the Concord Museum

The Concord Museum presents a juried exhibition of furniture, jewelry, musical instruments and fine bookbindings, crafted by 55 distinguished alumni of the renowned North Bennet Street School in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the school in Boston's North End.

      On exhibit now through
March 21, 2010.

Hand cuffs  Massachusetts Most Wanted
Wheels of Justice- and Fox TV

In August we were scammed by an elderly couple who checked-in "between houses",  having just sold one and completing renovations on another. Well educated, conversant, and most comfortable...how were we to guess that they are con artists.  Marilyn has been relentless in tracking them down across the State and aiding the Concord Police. This seemingly pleasant old couple, Jane and Benjamin Wolff have left a legacy of debts, deceit and pain. They are now listed on
Massachusetts Most Wanted. We were interviewed by Fox TV for the evening news.    Watch the clip!
