A Corral For Your Bandwidth Hogs
As data usage explodes due to an increase in Internet enabled devices, widespread adoption of Over-The-Top (OTT) services and other bandwidth-intensive content, Operators are facing increased network expansion costs and flat revenues from current "all you can eat" rate plans. The result is a significant misalignment between price and demand, with some subscribers consuming over 100x the amount of data as other subscribers, yet paying the same amount each month. With high speed consumption growing exponentially, we've heard from several Operators that have been exploring usage based or "metered" billing in order to capture more revenue to help pay needed capacity expansion. While GLDS has done a good job of getting usage-based data into a customer's bill, someone has to provide GLDS with that data. We're happy to let you know that new GLDS partner OpenVault, provides solutions that help capture, rate and present that data for billing. GLDS and OpenVault have recently tested an integrated solution which provides a simple method of implementing flexible usage based rating. What does this mean for GLDS customers? It means that Operators have the opportunity to implement usage-based billing plans quickly and effectively. With OpenVault's data collection and rating engine, GLDS Operator customers can add "overage" charges to existing broadband bills seamlessly. The solution can be implemented in a matter of days, and OpenVault even offers the ability to notify subscribers who are reaching their usage limit and recommend plan upgrades where appropriate. If you're interested in learning about the combined solution, contact GLDS and we'll put you in touch with the folks at OpenVault. |
