The 2011 event will be held May 9th through 12th where we'll host WinCable users at an all new venue with gorgeous ocean views and spacious meeting areas. Those who have attended in the past know they are in for three-plus days of well-balanced sessions, sun and fun.

Calling WinCable Power Users! Struggling with the challenges of operating a large MSO? Then this intensive is for you. We'll start with lunch together on Monday at 11:30AM, then share ideas on best practices for Power Users like you, in operations similar to yours. We'll spend three hours in a roundtable meeting where you can discuss YOUR top priority topics - with GLDS and with one another. Don't worry, we'll be done in plenty of time for the Welcome Reception Monday night. The Power User session is for experienced WinCable users only - no newbies please.

Windows NT; The End of an Era

Beginning with release 1.103.10.0, WinCable will no longer support Windows NT platforms. This first 32 bit operating system introduced in 1993 has been a work horse for many organizations. It then became the basis for Windows 2000 and XP. Microsoft stopped supporting NT about 5-6 years ago but we are still seeing some workstations running this operating system. While the general rule of thumb indicates a 3-5 year life cycle for a server, there are SuperControllers and ARUs in the field that have been operating for over 8 years! How's that for stability??? 
Current SuperControllers and ARUs are going out on Windows XP Pro workstations. Enterprise SuperControllers are available on Windows 2008 server operating systems. Keep reading these newsletters for hardware platform updates. |
