GLDS Introduces WinForce

We're happy to let you know that GLDS and PeakView Solutions have deepened their relationship and have been working on a joint workforce management interface.  This effort provides WinCable customers with fully-integrated, real-time access to PeakView's workforce management (WFM) system through GLDS' new WinForce interface which provides PeakView with data needed to drive workforce efficiencies.

"This is the next logical next step in our year-old relationship," says Garrick Russell, GLDS VP of Operations. "While PeakView has been working with snippets of WinCable billing system data, this new interface opens the door to a real-time collaboration that empowers technicians and builds efficiency.  PeakView has been a good development partner as we worked through this integration and we're looking forward to bringing robust workforce management tools to our customers."

"We are thrilled to be working with the GLDS team on the final steps of integration," said Manny Miera, PeakView's co-founder and CEO.  "PeakView has already developed the first WFM application to work with the WinCable billing platform, and it is currently being implemented in a major MSO.  With the addition of this GLDS interface, our WFM application will gain new functionality and benefits."

Stay tuned for more information on WinForce as the interface makes it through testing and out to our first workforce management customer.

It Happened Again...

Your subscriber information is likely your most valuable asset. Despite this, we hear from operators (all too frequently) that they aren't backing up WinCable and SuperController. Unfortunately, by the time we hear this it's often because an operator has had an emergency and needs to restore from backup.

Where there is no backup, there is no opportunity for recovery.  While WinCable and SuperController can be configured to back up your database locally, that backup is only as good as the location it resides at. For this reason, GLDS strongly recommends storing backups off-site.

Just this month, we heard from an operator whose hard drive crashed.  The operator hadn't taken a recent backup and the most current backup they had was also sitting on the failed drive.  While they were able to find a backup from several months ago, the operator was left trying to retrace their steps.  Don't let this happen to you!

You never know when you'll experience a flood, earthquake or, a fire. Offsite backups distribute the risk and get you back up and running should disaster strike.  There are several ways to get your backups off site -- tape, DVD, flash-drive and even online storage. Regardless of the method you use, it's important to make it part of your daily routine.

Please check to make sure you've got last night's backup, now.
