The Business Case for Risk Management

Today's turbulent economic environment demands intelligent decisions.  To remain competitive, operators must have insight to make the right decisions at the right time - before approving service and releasing expensive equipment.  Research has determined that customers who are applying for service from cable operators' have significantly worse credit than the general US population.  In fact, nearly 3 out of 4 new service requests have risk factors that indicate future delinquency.  Research also indicates that a disproportionate number of new service requests are from younger, less affluent consumers which may offer a logical explanation for the higher risk associated with this demographic.  With more than 60 percent of individual contact information changing each year and more than 44 million households moving annually, the need to have a successful risk management process is vital for the continued success of our industry.
  • Average write-off without a converter: $85 - $145
  • Average write-off including a converter: $450 - $650
  • Cost to roll truck to disconnect/reconnect service: $45 - $85
  • Average # of days to disconnect past due accounts: 75 day
Successful cable risk management is an approach that incorporates legal, highly scientific predictions about subscriber payment behavior and performance to deliver important operational efficiencies and a substantial ROI.  With advanced modeling and enhanced subscriber level segmentation, operators can precisely identify the most risky, credit-challenged subscribers to ultra-high achievers that will maximize sales and boost profits.  Combined with agile decision management technology and operator-controlled business rules, risk management empowers CSRs to instantly and accurately respond to credit characteristics with appropriate options for every subscriber.  And while a one-size-fits-all model has never worked for our industry, the best risk management solutions will provide operators with the flexibility, tools, and know how needed to protect the bottom line and achieve proven results.

Thanks to a new partnership with SubscriberWise®, GLDS can now deliver real-time decisioning data right from the WinCable subscriber management system.  CSRs will have instant access to a thorough risk assessment and, more importantly, recommended actions and deposit amounts - intelligence a FICO® score alone just can't provide.

NOW HIRING
GLDS is looking for a few good men (and women).  We currently have openings in our Carlsbad, CA office for account management, technical support, and addressable engineering personnel.

Candidates should have LOTS of experience in the Cable TV industry, and be expert in the use of GLDS billing and addressable products.  (For the right candidate, we might even create an opening in our Wisconsin office).

The catch?  GLDS has a policy of NEVER hiring current employees from our customers.  It's an ethical thing with us.  However, if you know of qualified people who have recently left the employ of a GLDS customer please let us know!  We're always looking for the best people to serve our software users worldwide.
