Dear Downtown Bloomington Farmers' Market Fans:
Sorry for the extra email -- but we wanted to update you on a few NEW ITEMS coming to the market on Saturday.
- O'Rourke Family Gardens will have their luscious BLACKBERRIES -- available for the first time this season.
- Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery will have MOLLISOL PECORINO-the LAST batch of their sheep milk Romano style cheese for the year. It is 14 months old, slightly salty, a bit nutty and great for grating over hot and cold dishes. This may also be the last of the EWE BLOOM for a while. For info on other cheeses Leslie will have available, check her blog.
- Brown's Fresh Produce Market will be bringing their famous "PEACHES N CREAM" SWEET CORN to the market for the first time. Troyer Sweet Corn's delicious BI-COLOR SWEET CORN was available at last week's market -- and will still be drawing a crowd this week. I am sure will will have a line down the street for Mitchell Farms Produce specialty GOURMET SWEET CORN again this weekend, too. (Seems like everyone has their favorite sweet corn!)
We also forgot to mention this week's COOKING DEMO in the newsletter. Chef Bell from THE DINNER BELL will be cooking and offering free tastes in the cafe area at the intersection of Jefferson and Center at tomorrow's market. If you are one of the market's early birds, you will also see Laura Kennedy from WGLT filming new Market to Menu segments at the market this weekend -- AND Carrie Muehling from WJBC will be broadcasting from the market on Saturday, too.
It seems like we always see a drop in market attendance on Sugar Creek Arts Festival weekends. But there is SO MUCH YOU WILL MISS if you don't make it to the farmers' market this Saturday (and don't forget . . . we have GREAT ART at the market, too). We are pretty darn sure we will have PEACHES at the market for the first time this weekend, too! Definitely get to Sugar Creek this weekend -- but DON'T MISS THE MARKET!
We will be looking for you on Saturday morning!
