When we seek spiritual answers, we look for something that resonates within ourselves. Not just something that is in alignment with our thoughts or opinions, but something that is echoed by a knowing that is deep within our being. When we hear something profound and true, we know it to be profound and true by the experience we have on the level of knowing, not on the level of the intellect. The profound truth causes us to have the 'Aha!' experience of recognition, perhaps almost like remembering, as if we're being reminded of something we had forgotten we'd ever known.
In music school, there's always one teacher, usually one of the good ones, who will show students about sympathetic resonance, rather than simply to describe it. They will put a double bass on a stand, or have someone hold it so that the strings are free to vibrate; and then they will hit an E major chord on the piano, loudly, then dampen it so that the whole class can hear the E string on the double bass singing its tone. Then they will hit an A major chord and dampen it, and the class will hear the A string on the double bass vibrating. Anything in the room that is tuned to A will vibrate--the A string on a guitar, a violin, a cello, even another piano if someone is holding down the sustain pedal. The hammers of the piano have struck the A, C# and E strings of the A chord and set those strings vibrating. That vibration then travels through the air, setting off a sympathetic vibration in anything of a like nature in the room, i.e. the other A strings.
Like this, we hear truth we are meant to hear. We hear truths with which we will resonate. We hear truths we are ready to hear, that we have prepared ourselves to hear; and as we hear it, the same truth deep within us will vibrate, giving us a beacon to follow as we excavate our own version of this truth within. As we find this truth within ourselves, we in turn express it through the unique vehicle of our individuality. Those others who resonate with the truth as we express it and live it will be drawn to us, and those who do not hear it, who do not resonate with it, will wonder what we're talking about.
Like this, truth is passed from one to the other of us; and with each person who resonates to our truth, the power of that truth to transform and to heal in our world is amplified. Love is passed from one to the other of us and those who resonate with our love will cause it to be amplified, along with its power to transform and to heal.
At the risk of punning, in this way we all end up being instruments of the divine.
Today I will send out a vibration of love and see where I can find evidence of its resonance.
