I'm under pressure at the moment. A. Lot. Of. Pressure. Somehow, between now and November 10 we will register 800 of Miami's most ambitious, passionate, successful businesswomen for the Women's Success Summit, gather some 45 speakers and panelists, create and print all the materials that go with it, finalize all the partnerships and sponsorships, and at some point, I should probably write a thing or two to say.
I have no idea how this is all going to happen.
What I DO have, is a to-do list that's a hundred and twenty nine items long (and that's just for the Summit).
But don't mistake me...
I'm not stressed out, I'm energized. I'm not overwhelmed, I'm stimulated. I'm not resistant, I'm embracing every beautiful, challenging second of it. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself ;)
I confess, in my "darker" moments I wonder if my plans are too ambitious, I wonder if I'm biting off more than I can chew, I wonder if we are capable of pulling this off... Again (but of course better).
And then I remember one of the most impacting lessons I took away from 2 years of business school: "The Risk-Return Ratio." Essentially it just means that those who take the biggest risks are rewarded with the biggest returns. And that's when I remind myself that I am committed to taking bigger risks in my life... so I can generate bigger results.
Which brings us to the theme of Summit IV: "Risky Business." The idea is for you to push the envelope, make decisions and GROW beyond where you are now... FAST... by taking risk. Calculated, measured, risk, but risk all the same.
I'm not interested in delivering "rah-rah" sunshine and rainbows, this Summit is about acquiring the practical, tactical skills, knowledge and personal connections that can change the course of your career - and your life.
Last time we had standing room only. Guy Kawasaki made a surprise guest appearance. Many of you were screaming like pre-teens at a Justin Bieber concert (you know who you are). Summit IV will be bigger and better, with even higher-profile speakers, a cool new venue (did I mention Gulfstream Park - my DREAM space for the Summit?), and some sort of surprise theatrical twist that our keynoter Jessica Kizorek won't divulge - even to me.
So register. Register now. Make this the first of many more decisions that will either push you forward faster in the direction you're already going, or reorient you towards what you really want and need.
