7 Easy Do-It-Yourself Steps To
Own Your Name On Google

(to attend a live workshop on this topic, sign up for my next event)

Greetings!

These days, it's likely that someone will "meet" you online before they ever shake your hand. So cultivating your personal brand online is as important as developing it through more traditional channels.

So how do you do it? It's not rocket science, but it does require patience, focus and dedication.

Here are the basic steps:

1. Define your personal brand as narrowly as you can. Narrow it down by defining your target customer ("everyone" just doesn't cut it anymore), your geographic area or your unique discipline.

2. Send valuable information that will appeal to your narrow target out into the cyber-verse.

3. Shoot a GREAT profile pic! One that aligns with your brand.

4. Get your Twitter Profile. Just do it... Eventually you'll need it/be glad you have it.

5. Create social media/profiles on sites that get crawled by Google (like Google Profiles, Twitter & public LinkedIn Profiles).

6. Start uploading content to content delivery sites like SlideShare, Flick'r, Vimeo or YouTube (notice I said "or" - just pick one or two). Tag everything with your name (and company)!

7. Own your name everywhere you can - even if you don't plan to use it - so no one else gets it.

If you do all of these things (it does take time), I promise that you'll see the results.

In fact, take a "baseline" right now. Do a Google search of yourself, and count the number of times you come up. In a month, then 3 months, then 6 months then a year, do it again to see how far you've come.

Want the detailed, fleshed-out version of these 7 steps? Come to my next live event in Brickell on July 16th. Click here for more info, or scroll down.

Good luck and happy personal online branding!!
