If They Don't LOVE It, It's Just SPAM.
How NOT To Be SPAM: Fundamental Rule #1- Deliver VALUE.

Traditional marketing is sooooo over. There are just too many ways to filter out the junk (email rules, spam catchers, unsubscribe links, TIVO...) To make an impact right now, you've got to promote in ways that make people want to pay attention. You've got to deliver value.

For example, if you're a computer service company, instead of telling people that you can make them more efficient, actually send them a simple trick they can implement to save time. If you're a hairdresser, send instructions for a fun, easy "bad hair days" hairdo instead of yet another salon flyer. And if you have an event you want people to attend (like ours, below) - give away some of the info you'll be delivering that day (like this!), instead of just another invitation...

Why give away valuable info for free? Because some day your contacts may actually need computer servicing, a new haircut, or help with marketing... and when that day comes, they'll remember you as someone they trust. Not to mention, they'll have probably saved your email or subscribed to your list, so they'll be able to easily track you down.

Phone calls, email, TV, banner ads, billboards, networking events, YouTube, elevator pitches, radio commercials, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter... most of us ignore over 90% of the thousands of marketing messages we see every day.

Yet as a business owner, independent agent, freelancer or entrepreneur you're probably using some or even all of the above methods to promote yourself or your business. And you're probably getting filtered out.

Chances are, you're doing a lot of wheel-spinning and much of it really isn't getting you - or your business - all that far.

So how can you effectively (and economically) promote your product, service, or yourself in the age of information overload?
