A Word from Karyn New Year, New Beginnings, New Blog
Hi good friend!
I've always loved the pictures in Peter Spier's book about Christmas. There are no words, just illustrations showing a family preparing for and celebrating a traditional Christmas holiday. But that's not the best of it. Spier actually is able to capture the aftermath, to evoke that take-a-breath, put-your-feet up, sip-something-hot, and be-grateful-in-the-midst-of-the-mess feeling. (There are no fitting words for that feeling, really -- which is probably why the book has no words.) Anyway, I hope you had some of that sit-down peace and gratitude in the past few days, and I hope New Year's Day has brought you a bright beginning to a year full of God's provision experienced in ways you never expected.
I know it's traditional to make resolutions at this time of year, but I don't do New Year's resolutions. I'm old enough to know they are, for me, futile. But what might pass for a resolution is a new activity I'm starting: blogging. (Couldn't they think of something that didn't rhyme with slogging or clogging or bogging? The sound of the word has definite plumbing issues.) Anyway, you are hereby invited to journey with me twice a week as I ponder "The Book of John Through the Eyes of Lazarus." If you want to know what in the world I mean by that, you'll have to check out the first blog. You can find my blog at http://maybeso.wordpress.com/. I'd love to have you along for the ride. Happy New Year! By God's grace, to His glory,

Karyn Henley

Teaching Children to Pray...
By popular demand, Karyn is speaking at Children's Pastors' Conference (CPC) in Nashville this week on the subject of Teaching Children to Pray.
With all the challenges facing our children in this postmodern world, there is renewed interest in helping children grow closer to God through prayer.
Whether you are a CPC attendee or not, you can preview Teaching Children to Pray, a 13-lesson study on this vital topic for children ages 8 to 11. Downloadable sample pages are available. Visit the curriculum page at our website to find out more about this study and all 8 volumes of the Foundations for Grades 3 thru 5.
