Greetings!
Happy spring! The daffodils have bloomed, the forsythia and redbud and Bradford pear are in full blossom, and when I opened my back door a few days ago, I heard a goose honking overhead as it headed north. Sure signs of the season of new beginnings.
As you look ahead toward the close of this school year and the start of summer activities, many of you are thinking of VBS, neighborhood outreach,  and short-term mission trips. You may also be considering a gift for each of your students as they graduate from your class, something small and inexpensive, but something that will be of great value to them now and in the days ahead. I want to add a booklet to your list of options: Day by Day Hope for Kids.
Day by Day Hope is a short apologetic for kids eight and up. In it, I intersperse readings from the gospels (taken from the Day by Day Kids' Bible), the psalms, and some of Paul's writings with simple explanations of the salvation message, rooted in what I call the "apologetic of perfect love." At the end, there is a brief prayer built on a combination of scriptures, which guides the reader to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.
I wrote this booklet in response to a request made last year from an outreach worker who wanted something to hand out that was on a kid's level. As I finished the booklet, my mind went back to my own growing-up years. I thought of short books like this that were given to me as gifts and inspired me at the time. And I remembered how I would place these books on my shelf and run into them time and again cleaning or moving or just perusing my collection as I grew. I would flip them open and find them once again inspiring me with what I needed for that time in my life. That's what I dream this booklet might be in the hands of a new generation.

 The dates for Karyn Henley's Teaching Kids Why Conference have been finalized and registration is now available at our website. The conference will take place Monday & Tuesday, October 20-21, 2008 at the Scarritt-Bennett Center in Nashville, TN.
"Early

the fee will be $149. Participation has been expanded this year, but
