SLI Storms MA State
House on Sports Concussion Awareness Day to Lobby Senate Bill 2267
April 27, 2010 - SLI members Chris Nowinski, Ted Johnson, and Dr. Robert Stern joined Massachusetts lawmakers in Boston to support the passage of Senate Bill 2267, which would essentially
direct the Mass Department of Public Health to institute a head
injury training program for all school athletic programs. Coaches,
trainers, on-site doctors and participating athletes would be schooled
about the symptoms and proper responses for dealing with concussions.
The push for the bill comes on the heels of the
National Football League's announcement that it is donating $1 million
to Boston University School of Medicine for the study of brain injuries. The bill is awaiting a vote in the Senate. If
approved, it must head to the Massachusetts House before going to Gov.
Deval Patrick for his approval. - Click here to read AP story and here for more press coverage
