Position Filled!  Lead Casket Builder
We are pleased to announce that Casket in progress Bret Barnes has accepted the position as Lead Casket Builder.  Brett lives in San Diego and he and his wife are very familiar with the Garden.

Bret will review the our plans for any needed improvements.  He will also be  responsible for all questions regarding the building of caskets that come from inquirers or our volunteer builders.

We have long wanted to provide "casket kits" to volunteers who have construction skills but do not have the special saws needed to cut the angles of our caskets.  We are excited that Brett will be working towards making casket kits available.
Please remember the Garden...

Garden of Innocence National News
Las Vegas cemetery
Our sister organization, Garden of Innocence National, is dedicated to bringing the San Diego Garden of Innocence mission and model to other areas of the country and the world.

Volunteers and donors who have been involved with GOI San Diego for a long time know that working through the government road blocks to start a garden is a daunting task.  For about two years a GOI National has been helping volunteers in Las Vegas try to convince local authorities to assign Gthe remains of abandoned children who die there to GOI Las Vegas so that they can receive a dignified burial.  Currently, these children are buried with no headstones and with appalling file names such as Doe-ice house; Doe-no jaw bone; Doe-skeletal; and Doe-skull cold creek - obviously named for condition or location of the body. Read the Las Vegas Sun newspaper article "County's poorest children have death without dignity" to learn more about this fight for dignified burials in Las Vegas.  If you would like to financially help the GOI Las Vegas team or any of the other gardens get off the ground, please click here to donate to Garden of Innocence National.

Elissa Davey, our Founder and Co-founder of Garden of Innocence National says, "I received an article from the New York Times by Katie Zezima. Coroners and medical examiners across the country are reporting spikes in the number of unclaimed bodies and indigent burials.  Something has to change and Garden of Innocence is here to help. If they will only let us in the door we will build a garden in every state and if they don't want us we will find one that does.   With your help we can do this.  We must keep the faith."
We are so thankful that you love our babies as much as we do.

Sincerely,

Georgene Kruzel
