Rachel by Elissa Davey |
We often receive inquiries about the statue of the young woman in our garden.
Rachel came to us because she, too, was abandoned. She had been ordered for an organization that never claimed her.
When Garden of Innocence came to El Camino Cemetery, she was offered to us. For the other group she was to be the angel of lost children. For us, Rachel is the angel of loved children.

Spotlight on: Our Volunteer Coordinator |
Last month we sent out a request for a Volunteer Coordinator and we are pleased to announce that Birgit Rutz has accepted the position.
Birgit is originally from Germany and moved to San Diego 14 months ago with her husband and two children. She works as a bilingual libraria assistant at Albert Einstein Academies and enjoys working with her best friend, Allan Musterer in their company a&b productions where the create unique photographic memories and tributes.
Birgit shares, "My connection to the Garden came through Allan, who shared with me his special experience at the memorial service for the 100th Baby Annmarie just two weeks before I lost my third child through a miscarriage. I gave my baby the name Hope and I had the strong desire in my heart to come to the Garden and say "Good-bye" to my baby at this special location. Two weeks later I attended my first memorial service at the Garden and it touched me and moved me. I cannot describe that further."
"I am honored to be more involved in the Garden of Innocence and the mission, to provide dignified burials for abandoned children, will always be my personal mission!"
