Correction:
Wilson crowd younger than reported

In issue #58 (Dec. 22, 2009) in the lead article about the Dec. 7 Portland Planning session at Wilson High School ("Large Wilson crowd casts votes on Portland's future"), I made a reporting error about the age of the participants. Those attending weren't asked their ages, as I reported; they were asked for their ages in 25 years.

So the relevant section of the story has been corrected on
the Hillsdale News web site. It now reads:

"
As they pressed buttons in response to demographic questions, the electronic polling revealed the crowd to be . . .  older than 40. (77 percent said they would be older than 65 in 25 years.)

The results of the planning effort will provide a guide for the next 25 years, but 7 percent of the attendees responded that they could only "hope to be here in 2035."

In the "commentary," disregard my comments about  the age of attendees. It was based on my faulty reading of the demographics polling.
On the Hillsdale News web site, I've dropped the comment.
My apologies for the error.
