Ice Cream Social
Hopkinton Senior Housing
Join us on Sunday, Sept. 23th at 2:00pm for our Ice Cream Social at Hopkinton Senior Housing, 100 Davis Rd. Hopkinton (NOT the Senior Center on Mayhew St.). All are welcome to help with the festivities. We could use help with the following:
Thank you for notifying me by email of any task you'd like to assist with or if you plan to attend.
- Set-up: We need a few folks to head over to the hall with me between 12:30/1pm to begin setting up
- Flowers: Someone to pick up a small simple bouquet of flowers to cut and place in small vases (I will provide). Mums or asters would be fine. Nothing too expensive.
- Serve: Volunteers are needed to scoop as well asa few ice cream SCOOPS to borrow. Older youth from our parish are perfect for this!
- I have a call into St. Paul's member Ernie Paolini to see if he is willing to provide live musical entertainment. Plan B is a multi-disk CD player with Glen Miller and Frank Sinatra etc.. If anyone has any other easy listening music, please feel free to bring it. I think my changer holds four CDs.
- Clean-up: We need help cleaning up about 3:30/4:00pm
The following are ideas if anyone is feeling creative or would like to do a little something although they cannot be present the day of:
- If any one would like to create table "tents" made from heavy paper such as card stock etc. folded in half or quarters and a note saying, "Welcome From Your Friends with St. Paul's Church" or another inspirational saying that would be great.
- Any other creative ideas are welcome......
DON'T WORRY IF YOU HAVE TO ARRIVE LATE OR CAN'T STAY THE ENTIRE TIME. Any help you can give will be greeting appreciated by the seniors and our committee.
Again, Thank you for notifying me by email of any task you'd like to assist with or if you plan to attend.

Back to School-Medway House
Medway House has let us know what items they need for back-to-school. They have some supplies, but are in need of:
3 ring binders folders glue sticks ball point pens hand sanitizer lunch boxes
Although they don't have an urgent need for backpacks, they do give a backpack to each child in need that moves in, throughout the year. They also have many young parents taking GED classes. So, keep the backpacks coming, since they do get used! They do however need smaller, preschool or kindergarten backpacks, and lunch boxes.
Anybody needing more info. can contact Sarah Brady at
Also, please keep in mind that the shelter is always in need of fans, since they are not air-conditioned! Right now, they are also low on bath towels. They don't need to be new, but should be in good shape. Diapers and wipes are also always appreciated! |

Calling All Singers!
notice from the Diocese
St. Paul's Cathedral in Boston is celebrating 100 years as the Cathedral of our Diocese, and we're marking the occasion with a gala service of Rededication with a choir of 100 voices (at least!).
When: Sunday, October 7, 2012, at 3:00 p.m.
Where: St. Paul's Cathedral, 138 Tremont St., Boston
What we'll sing: "O How Amiable" by Ralph Vaughan Williams
"I Was Glad" by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry
There will be one rehearsal, on October 7th at 1:15 p.m. at the Cathedral. Mark Engelhardt will conduct.
How to get involved:
1. Let us know you'd like to participate. RSVP to the Cathedral office at 617-482-4826 ext. 221 or e-mail
2. Download or purchase music:
"O How Amiable" is in most choirs' repertory, so check your church's music library. (Christ Church Medway does NOT have it-if St. Paul's, Hopkinton, does, perhaps we could borrow a few copies if there are singers who want to participate-Jeanne Johnson) If your church doesn't have it, you can purchase it at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/O-how-amiable/8264521 (There is a minimum order requirement of 6 copies, I noticed-Jeanne Johnson. Price is $1.83 plus shipping.)
3. Learn the music (there are many versions online at "YouTube" to help you) and come to rehearsal on October 7th. There won't be time on Oct. 7 to learn notes, so please come prepared. Bring your vestments."
Jeanne Johnson will be the contact person for Christ Church and St. Paul's Church if desired (ph. 508-533-4461 or e-mail j22johnson2001@yahoo.com) to order music and arrange a rehearsal if singers would like to have one or two before October 7th.
