Essay Contest Invites Students to Speak Up About How They Can Be United for Good |
United Way of Southwest Minnesota and The Marshall Independent have teamed up to sponsor an essay contest to give children a chance to write about how all different types of people can work together to make this a better place to live.
Teachers, parents and community leaders are encouraged to invite children in grades three to six throughout this area to participate. Essays for the "United for Good" contest should be original, be inspirational and have good grammar. The essays should be no more than 150 words long and focus on how they can be united for good. The essay deadline is Monday, November 5, 2012.
Prizes will be awarded to the top two winning essayists in each grade level and their stories will be published in The Marshall Independent on December 1, 2012.
