50 year journey of caring
Please Join Us

Friday, March 2, 2012 (7:45 - 8:45 AM) at the Marshall Area YMCA large meeting room.

This event will mark the beginning of special recognition of the 50 year journey of United Way of Southwest Minnesota.  Since 1962 local volunteers have been on a journey of caring for their neighbors.  It has been fascinating to review information and to hear the voices of people who have been involved along the journey.

Come learn a little more about our history, share your experiences and celebrate the beginning of the journey ahead!

A light continental breakfast will be available.  It will be helpful if we know that you can join us.  Reply here.

Parenting Education Presentation March 20, 2012

Are your kids pushing your buttons?  Draining your energy?  Out-thinking you? Arguing?

Leave this presentation with specific strategies for dealing with challenging issues.  Kindred Hearts, a teacher & pediatrician duo will provide practical tools and techniques that help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships with their children and help them prepare their kids for the real world.  Love and Logic materials will be for sale that evening, also.

Two different sessions are scheduled:

* After School Seminar for Teachers (4 - 5:30)

** Community Presentation (7 - 9 PM) - Please note that a free parent resource fair begins at 6:30.

All events take place at the Marshall High School Theater.

Volunteers Needed for Community Investment Committee

United Way of Southwest Minnesota needs volunteers from across its service area to help review local non-profit organizations' applications for Community Impact Grants.

This work is time limited and will cover approximately 6 weeks of time during April and May.  Volunteers will be expected to spend up to 8-10 hours (usually in hour long components) conducting reviews and preparing recommendations for the United Way of Southwest MN board of directors.

This is the primary way that funds that were raised during the recent annual campaign are invested back into services that benefit people of this area.  People who are interested in learning more should contact us right away.  Call (507) 929-2273, stop by the office at 109 S. 5th Street, Suite 300, Marshall or send an email by clicking here.
