LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! |
Two community listening sessions have been scheduled: Monday, Feb 13 (3:30 - 5:00) and Thursday, Feb 16 (3:30 - 5:00). Both sessions will be held at the new Marshall-Lyon County Library and are open to the public. Interested youth and adults are encouraged to take part in one of the two times available. Please join us!
United Way of Southwest Minnesota is one of 25 local United Way organizations across the country conducting community listening sessions to gather people's opinions and to find ways to galvanize communities to more effectively address the social problems that we face. In addition, the listening sessions will include some questions about creating opportunity as it relates to at-risk and disconnected youth. Information gained from these conversations will be given to the White House Council for Community Solutions.
These listening sessions will also provide information to further development of one or more of the My Marshall destiny drivers.
Listening sessions specifically for youth program professionals and several youth groups are scheduled in the coming weeks, also. |
Do you have a used computer or equipment you can donate? |
United Way of Southwest Minnesota and the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce ask area businesses and other organizations to identify desktop or laptop computers that they have or will soon be retiring and are ready to recycle. The goal is to have 75-100 computers that can be refurbished and then donated to qualifying low income families in the area. The data will be securely wiped and new software will be installed.
PCs for People, a nonprofit organization in St. Paul, has selected the Marshall Area to be one of ten communities to take part in a mobile refurbishing project funded by the Blandin Foundation and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Read more here. |
