Greetings!

Thank you for your year-round commitment and support.  Together, we're advancing the common good and positively influencing the condition of all.  Just look at all you do:

* You put books into the hands of young children and build a lifelong love of literacy.

* You provide nutritious food for hungry children and families who need it.

* You bring back $788,000 each year into the local economy by sponsoring volunteer tax clinics.

* You help youth, families and individuals adjust to loss and difficult situations.

* You provide safety and security for innocent victims of violence.

* You teach positive parenting skills and build stronger families.

These examples and much more are made possible through donations to the United Way of Southwest MN annual fund-raising campaign.  Thank you for helping us to help others.

The miracle is this -- the more we share, the more we have.

All funds that are raised will help put books into the hands of our youngest children through sponsorship of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in this area.

This event is sponsored by Women United for Early Childhood Education who help the Success By 6 Initiative build school readiness skills by providing a free, quality book in the mail each month to approximately 2,400 Southwest Minnesota children from birth until their 5th birthday.
Read-A-Rama Rhyme Time
Rhyme time read-a-rama

There are five Read-a-Rama's scheduled in this area in the coming weeks. Click here for schedule

A child's ability to hear distinct sounds within words is critical to the process of learning to read.  Rhyming books that are part of the Imagination Library program will be read and interactive activities that are based upon rhymes will be conducted. The event is free.  All families with pre-school age children are invited to attend.

Campaign Update

Our annual fund-raising campaign is scheduled to close on January 31.  Support for the campaign has been outstanding. Donations are still needed to make sure that important local services and programs have the resources to make a difference.  100% of your donation goes to work for people living right here in Southwest MN.  Every dollar brings us closer to ensuring a strong focus on the education, income and health of people in this area.

I Love to Read Book Drive.

February is "I Love to Read" month and a perfect time to celebrate reading by donating gently-used or new children's books to the "Little Red Book Shelf".   The Little Red Book Shelf is coming to Marshall this spring.  This project will recirculate children's books in the community and making them available for families to reuse at no cost.  Click here to read more about the project and to find where to donate books.
